Search box is a critical element for a website or any application, in website users will not buy a product or service if they don’t find it or if they don’t understand how to use the search function.
From Usability point of view a search box should be ‘Easy to learn how to use, Easy to remember how to use and Aesthetically pleasing’. Here I am comparing the search boxes of Fedora, Ubuntu, apple and google; I find apple’s search box more elegant and intuitive; apple’s search box has ‘magnifier icon, filter icon/button and clear search button’ and still it doesn’t look cluttered.
